About the Author
Jim Ailor is a published composer and author. He loves reading to his five grandchildren. He and his wife live just south of Nashville, TN. For 20 years he worked in a publishing house in South Korea.
He holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree and many of his music publications can be found at J.W. Pepper Sheet Music or at Jim Ailor Music on Facebook or at ResurrectionSong Music.
Jim is continually inspired both by his grandchildren's love for books and by their drawings, actions and funny expressions.
Inspired by Samuel, "I Just Like Christmas" is a rhyming story told by a little square pumpkin. He has nothing against Halloween, but this little guy prefers Christmas. Rather than embracing Halloween, a celebration when pumpkins have every opportunity to shine, he declares, "I don't like Halloween, I just like Christmas." He then proceeds to share with us why. Even-numbered pages are about scary, Halloween, things, and the facing, odd-numbered pages are about fun, Christmas things. (Hardback, 8.5 X 11)

Bat the Bat with a Bat is an illustrated children's book. It is based on word conversions (zero-derivatives) that allow a child to see how one word can serve as two different parts of speech. For example, "bat" can be both an action word (verb) and an object (noun).
Bat the Bat with a Bat targets 3 reading levels of children: 1) a non-reader who has fun finding the mystery bear in every mini-story; 2) a young reader who is capable of reading the short heading that introduces the word conversion for each mini-story; and 3) the advanced reader who will enjoy the alliteration and occasional tongue twister of each mini-story.
Children are inspired to create their own mini-stories with word conversions and alliteration. Bat the Bat with a Bat is part of the "Derivative Series." (8 X 8)

X-rays the X-rays is an illustrated children's book. It is both fun and educational. It consists of mini-stories full of alliteration and tongue twisters that are based on word conversions (zero-derivatives) which is when a single word serves as two different parts of speech.
X-rays the X-rays targets 3 reading levels of children: 1) a non-reader who has fun finding the mystery bear on every page; 2) a young reader who is capable of reading the short heading on each page that introduces the word conversion; and 3) the advanced reader who is challenged by the alliteration and tongue twisters of the mini-story on each page. Siblings ages 4, 8 and 12 will enjoy reading X-rays the X-rays together.
A young reader can read alone as she sounds out the heading of each page and then examines the supportive and humorous illustrations. With headings like "Chant a Chant," "Colors with Colors," or "Drill with a Drill," the child only needs to sound out one word to know the subject of that mini-story.
